We are looking for parents to be part of our ARP/ESSER III Stakeholder group! On March 11, 2021, President Biden signed into law The American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act of 2021. The ARP Act, also referred to as ESSER III, provides additional funding for school districts to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this funding is to support the safe reopening and sustaining safe operations of schools while meeting students' academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. A key phase of the application process for districts is consultation with all stakeholders in the community to help formulate a plan on how the district will spend this money that includes the following: • How the funds will be used to implement prevention and mitigation strategies aligned with CDC guidance; • How the district will use its 20% set-aside to address the academic impact of lost instructional time through evidence-based interventions, such as summer learning or summer enrichment, extended day, comprehensive after school programs, or extended school year programs; • How the district will spend its remaining ARP ESSER funds; and, • How the district will ensure that interventions employed will respond to the academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs of all students and particularly those disproportionately impacted, including students from low-income families, students of color, English learners, children w/ disabilities, students experiencing homelessness, children and youth in foster care, and migratory students. As a part of this committee, your participation will only enhance the district’s plan for the safe return to in-person instruction and continuity of services in the 2021-2022 school year. As of right now, we are planning to meet two or three times between June and July and once or twice in the fall prior to submitting the application. If you would like to participate, please contact Adam Tarquini, Director of Finance & Operations, via email at atarquini@granbyschoolsma.net or by phone at (413) 467-7193.

Tonight's band performance will be livestreamed on GCAM on YouTube. You can access it over YouTube or you can go to the website www.tinyurl.com/GranbyBandConcert and it will bring you to the YouTube page. Alex Lamarche of GCAM has been a great asset for the community during this time and we're grateful to have him be a part of this experience.

Good evening all, As I stated in my previous email, I have been watching the weather forecasts very closely and with the expected rain I am making the decision to move the graduation to 12:00PM. I understand that this may cause some inconveniences, and for that, I apologize. Unfortunately, we cannot predict precisely when the rain will stop. In the end, our shared goal has been to celebrate the Class of 2021 in an outdoor ceremony with family, friends and faculty there to cheer them on, and this is our best chance to do that. I have updated the graduation plan to reflect these changes. Essentially. everything has been pushed back 2 hours. Graduates and staff should arrive by 11:15AM. The parking lot will open for guests at 11:00AM. The ceremony will begin as close to 12:00PM as possible. At this time, the plan is still to have guests use their one parking pass (spaces 61-115) to park a vehicle and sit in chairs (brought by guests) for the ceremony. I hope this is the last change we need to make, but please check your email again in the morning just to be sure. I am looking forward to recognizing the Class of 2021, and all of their accomplishments, tomorrow! Sincerely, Stephen Sullivan, Principal
