School Psychologist - Part Time

Position:
School Psychologist for grades 4-6 at the East Meadow School. This is a 20% position (1 day a week) beginning the 2010-2011 School Year.
Qualifications: Masters Degree - Certified as a School Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts - Experience as a School Psychologist.
Reports to: Director of Pupil Services
Responsibilities Include:
  1. Conducts extensive psychological examinations of students referred for special education and interprets diagnosis to school personnel, other concerned professionals, parents and students.
  2. Participates in Child Study Team meetings. Assists in the development of strategies to meet student's needs within the least restrictive environment prior to a full evaluation.
  3. Participates in Team evaluation meetings and assists in the development of individual educational program.

  5. Commitment to providing special education services in the least restrictive environment.
  6. Experience working with students with moderate and severe special needs.

Position: This position is available for August 31, 2010 in the Granby Schools. It is a full-time position serving students with special educational needs in grade 6 at the East Meadow Elementary School.  Major responsibilities include educational assessment and diagnosis, development of Individual Educational Plans (IEP), planning and implementation of programs to meet students’ needs, and consultation with staff and parents.
Qualifications:
  1. Licensed in Massachusetts as a Teacher of Moderate Special Needs (K-8) or (5-12).
  2. Ability to effectively carry out an instructional and behavioral program based on meeting student’s needs as outlined on their IEP’s.
  3. Knowledge of and experience with appropriate educational diagnostic techniques.
  4. Ability to work and consult with classroom teachers, administrators and support staff.
  5. Commitment to providing special education services in the least restrictive environment.
  6. Experience as a special education teacher.
  7. Demonstrated interest in the best possible education for all children.
  8. Ability to communicate well orally and in writing.
  9. Excellent references.
